Recipe Wednesday : guinness irish beef stew

hello everyone 

this weeks recipe is Guinness Irish beef stew I am Irish ,English and dutch descendant so my family has always been big on meat and potatoes for dinner i just love beef stew and there is nothing like a traditional Irish stew but traditional Irish stews had lamb or mutton so i love beef and this stew seams to be a great fit for thoses cold winter nights and you can feed it to the kids as the alchol does burn off when it cooks

Guinness Irish Beef Stew recipe by Season with Spice
Serves 4-5

Ingredients

1-2 lb of chuck beef cubes
8 carrots – peeled and cut into chunks
1 large white onion - chopped
4 cloves garlic - minced
1/4 - 1/2 tsp of Season with Spice's Bay Leaf Powder
1 tsp salt 
Freshly ground black pepper
3 cups of water
10 baby potatoes - quartered
2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp of Season with Spice's Smoked Spanish Paprika  
1 can or bottle of Guinness
1 six oz can of tomato paste (I used a Thick & Rich tomato paste – the only ingredient is tomatoes)

Directions 

1. Add about a tablespoon of oil to a frying pan, heat on medium-low fire, and cook beef cubes until browned. Transfer beef and juice to a large pot. 
2. Add another tablespoon of oil to pan, and sauté garlic and onion until lightly browned. Transfer to large pot (make sure to use all the flavor from the pan by heating a bit of water in the pan and pouring it into the pot).
3. Into the large pot, add the carrots, Bay Leaf Powder, salt, black pepper, and 3 cups of water. Cover, and simmer on low fire for 2 hours.
4. Add baby potatoes to the pot. Cover, and simmer for one hour, or until potatoes are softened.
5. In a bowl, mix together Guinness, sugar, Smoked Spanish Paprika, and tomato paste. Then pour the mix into the large pot. Cover and simmer for one more hour, or until desired thickness (stirring occasionally to prevent burning).
6. Serve hot, with freshly ground pepper sprinkled on top.  Or store in refrigerator overnight and enjoy the next day, since stews always taste better after a day or two.

i have been busy this week and i love listening to music when i clean i even sometime dance to the music while i clean but at least i dont do it like this guy

this is one of my favorite katy perry songs the guy in the beginning is such a jerk i was kinda glad he got eaten by a tiger.

I really like Chris Hadfield version of space oddity i read somewhere even david bowie loved it this was taken down for a while but its back up at least for another 2 years or so i read. i love the time lapse of the space station going over earth at night so cool.

and i'm still listening to this one well its a good song

as the weather gets colder i am looking into more meals that will warm you up on a cold night so i guess i will be looking into more soups/ stews and even chili for the upcoming months but really how many times can you have chili without it getting boring so maybe more on the soup/stew side then as there would be more variation, here is what we are eating this week.

Monday : breaded chicken with boiled potatoes

Tuesday : sloppy joes

Wendsday : pizza pasta 

Thursday : slow cooked porkchops and risotto ( i love my crockpot did i ever mention that ?)

Friday : Fish and homemade chips
Saturday : slow cooker Italian meatballs
Sunday : lasagna soup

as of lately i have been busy trying to clean and organize so i have the apartment ready for the holidays so this weeks pins are my favorite organizational pins.

have your gift wrap stuff everywhere ? why not use a wheeled drawer container and have a drawer for different items. I love this gift wrap station with the labels on each drawer 

I love this game organizer just put your board games on a hangable  shelf / clothing organizer 

I love these baskets just hang them off a wire shelf in your closet great for storing your socks or even toys in your kids bedroom

this idea is the greatest idea ever for your magazine articles  no need to keep all those magazines just tear them out and file them in a binder

My sister loves her hats so idea is a great way to hang your hats just use a hanger and some shower curtain rings to hang up your hats

have a lot of necklaces use a memo board or even a decorated cork board to hang them up with hooks in the board it looks just lovely

got lots of nail polish ? then use an old spice rack to display them all and best of all easy access to your polish.

need an easier way to make the kids lunches ? how about having a lunch making station with baskets for all thoes snacks

i hope everyone had a great Halloween i dressed up as a crazy bird lady and had a great time at my Halloween party 

                                  here is my costume I was a crazy bird lady my own creation

now without further ado here is my favorite pins for this week

as i am trying to get a start on christmas gifts i seen these fingerless gloves i am gonna crochet for my sister they look just lovely dont you think ?

with all the lovely fall colors of the leaves on the ground why not collect some with your kids and make some fall leaves placemats. made with wax paper just put the leaves between the wax paper and iron closed what a great craft to do with the kids.

and while you have some of those fall leaves why not use them to make some glittered fall leaves could even make a garland with them

I love these felt paper dolls such a cute project to make for your little girl could even be used for a quite book would make a great gift for christmas too.

as christmas is coming soon why not make these christmas oven mitt gifts i love them perfect for a neighbour or teacher or anyone you know who bakes include a cookie mix and a cookie cutter could even add a tea towel or pot holder.

Don't have a fire place but need some where to hang the stockings ? Why not make this stocking hanging board. Its so cute and perfect decoration for the house.

I love these feathered pencils now these were a valentine's day post but i dont see why you could not do red ones for christmas or green ones for st pattys day.

and since winter will not be too far along use this tip to tuck jeans in your boots
